The Signals Quizzer is Here
and a whole lot more!

This is a neat NORAC signals interactive learning and self test page that every engineer should take advantage of before they go to rules class or, for that matter, as a continuing education page to brush up on signal recognition. It was created by Newark side engineer George Karayannopoulas. The "Unofficial" Hoboken Division Engineer's Web Site Management Team considers this interactive NORAC Signals and Self Test Page to be a prime example of what talented people can do while the training department sits on it's hands content with a program that is growing older and more stale each year.

Warning: Only works with Internet Explorer (so far)!

Trap at JO Interlocking
The following information is provided by Rich Darcy, Local Chairman, BLE&T Division 373

Two recent stop signal incidents in PSNY at JO, point to signal confusion for certain displayed routes.
Attached is a copy of a new bulletin order item and a map of the location.

Remember: The signal to the right of the rail or switch is the controlling signal for your move.  Watch where the rail is taking you, look up, that's the controlling signal.  The 514E signal is 12 feet Before the switch.

Check out the diagrams for JO interlocking to see where the traps are:
Amtrak's New York Division Bulletin Order No. 9-72 explains the changes in procedure to avoid the trap:
